SmartTown is a new service that provides a safe and secure Wi-Fi experience to subscribers and visitors in the community. SmartTown utilizes the latest network security and content filtering to provide a private, secure, safe, and authenticated experience.

HUB will build Wi-Fi hotspots in public spaces throughout the community. This fully managed service will enable visitors and subscribers to connect to Wi-Fi wherever SmartTown is available.

SmartTown is a secure community Wi-Fi service, but it is not an open network. To ensure users on the SmartTown network are safe, connecting to the network requires an authentication process. This process ensures that a user’s data is encrypted, and their data is fully protected with a network-level security application to proactively keep malicious websites, viruses, and intrusions away from the network, 24×7.

No, once a user downloads the Passpoint profile, a user will automatically connect to the SmartTown community.

No, it is a simple process that should take no more than a few minutes to set up on mobile devices. There is no requirement for a user to provide any personal information or any type of payment.

If the user has downloaded the Passpoint profile, they will automatically connect to the network. For visitors/guests, access is provided by a QR code or through a captive portal with SSID: XXXXXX

Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint® is an industry-wide solution that streamlines Wi-Fi access and eliminates the need for users to find and authenticate a network each time they visit.
Key Features of Passpoint include:

• Seamless network access and roaming between hotspots.
• Enhanced WPA3™ security

Point-of-sale machines, cameras, and other connected devices are not Passpoint compatible. However, a hidden SSID for connected devices can be activated on community hotspots to allow for connectivity of these devices.
