Broadband Technician

Description
This role involves alerting managers of network issues and assisting in corrective actions, updating documentation to minimize network outages, and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Required qualifications include an associate degree with technical experience or a high school diploma with telecommunications experience, color variation distinction ability, a valid driver’s license, and flexibility for varying work hours. Preferred qualifications include basic IP networking knowledge and CCNA certification.
What You’ll Do:
- Alerts manager or more experienced technicians of wired and wireless network failures, bandwidth degradation, or signal weakness, and assists in performing corrective action
- Communicates and updates orders, tickets, documentation, etc., and complete tasks in a way that minimizes network outages and maximizes customer uptime.
- Customer Prem RG WIFI and ONT Equipment and Telecommunications Networks, and monitoring LAN and WAN switches, optical access equipment and alarms
- Maintains fiber optic and CAT5/6 cables, wiring color codes, upgrading of network equipment and configuring CPE equipment
- Proper fiber connector cleaning procedures, while performing periodic checks of redundancy in network
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree (or higher) with 2+ years basic technical telecommunications experience OR a High School Diploma (or GED) with 4+ years technical experience with telecommunications products and/or services
- Must be able to distinguish between color variations
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be able to work some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic IP networking knowledge is a plus
- CCNA desirable
